Accurate Altimeter Free

This altimeter works online and offline. It estimates your elevation with three different methods:

- Using GPS satellites triangulation. No internet connection required, quite accurate with clean sky but works only outdoors and it's slow.
- Using the ground elevation at your current position. Accurate but require internet connection and works only if you are at ground level.
- Using the pressure sensor of your device (if available). If it's available internet connection it calibrates itself on the nearest weather station pressure to improve accuracy.

The best choice for your excursion it's the pressure sensor method. But we recommend to launch the App just before leaving so it calibrates itself taking pressure from the nearest airport weather station. So measure will be reliable for few hours even without an internet connection.

The dial shows only calibrations up to 1000 m

Installed, opened, never shown a reading yet in the hour it's been installed. Hit my location straight away, but not showing altitude at all.

Tried it out while traveling through west Texas hills. Great tool for hiking or if your just wondering how high above sea level you are. I don't understand why someone would give it a low rating if they don't know why or how to use it.

I just don't understand the application because I am NOT a pilot or whatever the freak this is used for

Would like to know how this got the title of "Accurate Altimeter" when I can go up a noticeably large hill and my altitude goes down 10 - 30ft. Or how I can be going straight on a flat surface and my altitude will fluctuate 20 - 50ft.
