I just tested it on many images coded in yenc. It is not something I would give a high rating yet but it is in early development. It works

Unlike the upgrade from 1.53 to 1.54 (which wiped all my newsgroup settings - ouch!), upgrading to 1.56 preserved them all.

I've tried it twice. Set-up for ssl and can't find any groups with no messages. I'd and password verified.
